Cardiovascular diseases, particularly atherosclerosis, are the leading cause of death globally, responsible for approximately 17.9 million deaths annually.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic condition characterized by the buildup of fatty plaques, cholesterol, and other substances on the artery walls, associated with the development of cardiovascular diseases that vary according to the affected arterial vascular territory.
